Why Poconos?
Just a short trip from New York City, Northern New Jersey,
Philadelphia or Connecticut brings you to our beautiful mountains with
breathtaking views, the spectacular Delaware River, and relaxed
country living. The region has long been known as a four season
vacation and recreation area and today is renowned for its luxurious
resorts, beautiful home communities, family oriented attractions,
great schools, low taxes, low crime, sparkling lakes and streams
surrounded by gentle mountains of incomparable natural beauty. The
Pocono Mountains is growing by leaps and bounds annually. Despite this
great expansion the region continues to maintain a real sense of
identity, community and purpose.
Taxes:
Taxes are a fraction of those in New York and New Jersey. Take
advantage of these lower taxes to either upgrade your home or reduce
your mortgage payments.

many of the schools being fairly new. Institutions of higher
education are located both in Monroe County and in the nearby Lehigh
Valley and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre areas.
Transportation:
Many main highways lead directly to the Pocono Mountains. Within the
Poconos, there are many different transportation options--bus service:
daily service for commuters: several private and International
airports: car rentals and taxi service. The long awaited train system
from/to New Jersey and New York is scheduled for completion soon.
Shopping:
The Pocono area offers numerous intriguing shops in a small town
atmosphere. Antique shops, flea markets and many brand name outlets
are scattered throughout the area.
Sports:
For golfers, the Poconos offer 250 holes of scenic, challenging golf
and over 85,000 yards of picturesque fairways and greens. Year round
sports include horseback riding, canoeing, white water rafting,
hiking, biking and all types of water sports. Many lakes dot the
region and fishermen find the Poconos ideal with its many fishing "hot
spots" and the many varieties of species found here. Many families
enjoy to ski during the winter at the 12 large ski areas which offer
outstanding "learn to ski" programs, as well as diamond runs for the
experts. Other winter sports include ice fishing, snowmobiling,
cross-country skiing, ice skating, sledding and tobogganing.
Climate:
The Poconos 4 season climate has the weather to satisfy everyone's
favorite time of year.
Located less than one and a half hours from NYC or Philadelphia, The
Pocono Mountains are the perfect spot to get away from the city and
still find all the conveniences of metropolitan lifestyle coupled with
a small town feeling. This is why more and more visitors have decided
to move to the Poconos and live in an exciting community.
